Reminiscent of old time Florida with a hip, funky vibe and a great place to retire. The main drag, Atlantic Avenue is cute, eclectic and walkable with a variety of shops & restaurants. You won't find big chain stores on Atlantic Avenue which is what makes it so fabulous. All Mom and Pop shops with interesting and unique items. The town attracts all ages with a broad range of real estate price points from high-end waterfront homes on the ocean or intra-coastal where you can watch the yachts go by... to smaller and less expensive homes and condos away from the water. Going back to school? Several colleges like Lynn University or FAU are nearby. You are minutes off of 95 for easy access to major hubs and there is even a train line that runs through Delray Beach that can take you to Fort Lauderdale or Miami. Also great for retirees is the close proximity to two major international airports…West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale. Loads of services including a free trolley that runs through the center of town that can give you a lift when your feet start to ache along with a great library with great programs for older people. And don't get us started on the events. Each month there are tons of events ranging from big art shows to Oktoberfest to the Holiday Boat Parade on the Intracoastal where boats sail down from Boynton Beach through Delray decorated in the most elaborate christmas lights and decorations. Everyone comes out for that and lines the shores of the intracoastal. Bring a glass of wine and some hors do'oeuvres and good cheer.
