Located on Maine’s SE coast on Mount Desert Island, and home to a lot of outdoor enthusiasts since Acadia National Park is only a couple miles from downtown. Acadia activities include hiking, biking, bird watching, and mountain climbing. There are also tours to see puffins and whales in the area. The town itself has thankfully not been infiltrated by the chain stores and most are small town locally run. A popular summer community that has seen the likes of the Rockefellers and the Astors, Bar Harbour is home to a wide variety of socio-economic groups and feels like it did 30 years ago.
